Robert Kelly

A founding director of Third Horizon, Rob has 30 years of local and overseas experience in improving the operational efficiency of organisations.
As our Utilities and Infrastructure Leader, he has helped improve performance of utilities in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He is a sounding board for electricity, water and gas executives and his hands-on coaching style has assisted his clients to deliver a number of world-leading transformations.
Most recently he has:
- Overseen the post-acquisition efficiency improvement program at TransGrid, seeing it shift from an asset centric to customer centric focused organisation.
- Run the review of emerging technologies and their impact on the NZ electricity market.
- Led a major customer service improvement and business transformation program at Thames Water.
- Led the design of a new asset management operating model and structure for an Australian water utility, focusing on clarifying roles and accountabilities across the operating model.
Rob has also worked with large global corporations and a wide variety of organisations. His clients include Macquarie Bank, CSR, Sydney Water, Bovis Lend Lease, Lion Nathan, Airservices, Telstra, Powerco/Citipower, CLP and TransGrid.
Rob is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Economics from Australian National University and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
